About the Pentecostal Evangel
- The Pentecostal Evangel is the official magazine of the Assemblies of God.
In this role, the Pentecostal Evangel does its part to:
Propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ;
Give emphasis to Pentecostal distinctives, including the baptism in the Holy Spirit and its desired effects in the lives of believers;
Strengthen believers.
This mission is carried out through publishing inspirational features that focus on contemporary issues, biblical instruction and devotional guides, Christian news, and conversation pieces with Christian believers. Approximately 23,000 individuals have reported making commitments to Jesus since 1997 through reading the Evangel.
First published in 1913 as The Christian Evangel one year before the formation of the Assemblies of God, the Pentecostal Evangel blesses hundreds of thousands of people each week. J. Roswell and Alice Flower established The Christian Evangel to report on revivals and missions activities. Pentecostal Evangel Books, which debuted in 1999, further augments that mission.
The World Missions Edition is the product of a partnership between the Pentecostal Evangel and Assemblies of God World Missions. Every first Sunday of the month, the Evangel is devoted entirely to world missions. Through the WME, readers receive a perspective on our Fellowship’s efforts to fulfill the Great Commission.
The Pentecostal Evangel is published 52 times per year and has an average weekly circulation of approximately 170,000 worldwide.
