Annual Super Bowl Edition Coming Soon
By Ron Kopczick | November 24, 2009
Only six weeks remain in the National Football League’s regular season as teams vie for playoff positions and the ultimate goal — reaching Super Bowl XIVL. While pro football’s best teams strive to reach the post-season, churches across the United States can draw up their game plans to share the gospel with those in their communities who have an interest in the NFL championship game.
One of the most reliable tools during the past 14 years for ministering to football fans is the annual Pentecostal Evangel Super Bowl Outreach Edition. Since 1996 churches have used several hundred thousand copies of the special issue to proclaim a message of hope among the hype generated by America’s number one sporting event.
The Jan. 31, 2010, Super Bowl Outreach Edition will offer Christian testimonies from hall of fame coach Joe Gibbs, quarterbacks Matt Hasselback and Chad Pennington, tight end and recording artist Ben Utecht, and former pro players Chad Hennings and Thomas Tapeh. There are many ways a church can use the edition for evangelizing, including:
- Door-to-door distribution in its neighborhood or city
- As a sponsored supplement in the local newspaper
- In free literature racks at area businesses
- At a sponsored Super Bowl gathering or ministry function
Free customized imprinting on the back of every copy is available with every bulk order of 400 or more placed by Friday, Jan. 8, 2010. The imprinting will clearly identify the sponsoring church and help make any outreach more effective. Copies of the Super Bowl edition are only 25 cents each when a minimum order of 50 is requested.
