With a recent entry from Zimbabwe, the Pentecostal Evangel’s Weekly Drawing has now had participants from 36 different countries since its March 2006 inception. Zimbabwe is the tenth African nation to have a reader enter the contest. Europe and Asia have also been well represented with participants from 10 and nine countries, respectively.
Among the drawing’s first 177 winners were contestants from Canada, Nigeria, the Philippines, and the United Kingdom. And with this week’s prize recipient the first to represent Illinois, the number of states without a Weekly Drawing winner has dropped to eight, with only Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and West Virginia not being represented. (Please see map below.)
Missouri has had the most Weekly Drawing winners with 16, three more than second place Arkansas. Texas with 10, followed by California and Pennsylvania at nine each, round out the top 5 United States. In addition to entries coming from all 50 states and the U.S. territories of Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan have provided contestants.
